Bathroom Renovation Cost in Kent (2026)

Most full bathroom renovations we quote across Dartford, Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Bromley and the wider Kent / South East London area land between £10,000 and £16,500 inc VAT. Below: the real bands, what drives cost, and a 2-minute budget calculator that gets within 15 % of our formal quote.

What does it actually cost?

Three bands cover almost every job we quote. The numbers are inc VAT and reflect what we've actually charged across Kent in the last 18 months — not a price-comparison-site average.

Basic

6,500 – 9,500

Refresh of an existing bathroom — replacement suite, basic tiling, no layout changes. Roughly 6–9 working days.

Most common

Mid-range

10,000 – 16,500

Most GWS jobs land here. Fitted suite with a quality vanity unit, full-height tiling in the wet zone, LED mirror, sometimes new flooring. 10–14 working days.

Premium

17,000 – 30,000+

Full strip-out, layout changes (e.g. moving the WC or shower), large-format porcelain or natural stone, designer brassware, underfloor heating. 14–22 working days.

What actually moves the price

  • Room size. A 2.5×1.7 m cloakroom is a fundamentally different job from a 4×3 m family bathroom — labour scales linearly with floor and wall area.
  • Whether plumbing moves. Keeping the WC, bath and basin in roughly their existing positions is the biggest single cost saver. Moving the soil stack adds 1–2 days.
  • Brassware tier. A standard chrome shower set is around £200; a designer brushed-brass set with thermostatic valve, ceiling rain head and hand shower is closer to £900.
  • Tile choice. Ceramic at £25/m² vs large-format porcelain at £80/m² vs natural stone at £140/m² makes a four-figure difference in a typical bathroom.
  • Extras. Underfloor heating (~£600), heated towel rail, LED mirror cabinet, ceiling downlights, accessibility grab bars — all priced individually so you can choose.

Bathroom renovation cost — questions answered

How much does a bathroom renovation cost in Kent in 2026?

Most full bathroom renovations we quote in Dartford, Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Bromley and the surrounding area land between £10,000 and £16,500 inc VAT. A simpler refresh starts around £6,500; a premium spec with layout changes and natural stone can reach £25,000+. The biggest cost drivers are: bathroom size, whether plumbing or the WC needs to move, brassware tier, and the quality of the tiles you pick.

What's actually included in the price?

Our fixed-price quotes include: strip-out and waste removal, all plumbing and electrical work, the suite (bath, shower, WC, basin), tiling labour and materials, flooring, and full reinstatement (silicone, decorating made-good, final clean). VAT is itemised separately. We don't subcontract — every trade is managed by GWS on one invoice with one warranty.

Why are some quotes much cheaper than yours?

Two reasons. First, a lot of cheap quotes are 'labour only' — you supply the suite and tiles separately, and any returns or shortages become your problem. Ours are turn-key. Second, very low quotes from unverified trades often skip steps (no waterproofing membrane, cheap waste pipe, no second-fix electrical). We've been called out to fix three of those this year alone. Always ask exactly what's included and check Checkatrade reviews before choosing on price alone.

How accurate is the budget calculator on this site?

The /bathroom-quote calculator is an indicative budget tool — typically within ±15% of the formal fixed-price quote we'd issue after George's free home visit. It's good for planning and comparing scopes; the actual quote is built once we've measured the room, checked existing services, and confirmed the spec.

What payment structure do you use?

Standard GWS structure is 30 / 40 / 30: 30 % at first fix (start of work), 40 % at second fix (suite installed and tiling complete), 30 % on completion. A £100 holding deposit secures your start date in the diary and is deducted from your final payment. The deposit is non-refundable but is only ever taken AFTER the formal quote — never before George has visited.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

Most mid-range jobs run 10–14 working days from strip-out to final clean. Simpler refreshes can land in 6–9 days; premium jobs with layout changes and large-format porcelain can run 14–22 days. We don't take on more than one bathroom at a time, so you have one team focused on your job from start to finish.
